All things bright and beautiful

Overlooking the pond
Yesterday (Wednesday) was a rare sunny afternoon. Jeff and I made plans to go to the botanical gardens not far from our apartment. Of course, by the time early evening came it was already cloudy again, but the temperature was still comfortable. So we took the S Bahn one stop up and walked to the Berlin Botanischer Garten.

I have been to several botanical gardens in my life, but I've never seen one so large and so thorough! We were there for several hours and barely scratched the surface. We didn't even make it into all the greenhouses, let alone the rest of the grounds. We were very impressed by the collection, categorization, and display of the myriad of plant species. But more importantly, we were awed by the amazing variety, array, and beauty that God had created.

  2. Beautiful! This reminds me of the botanical gardens at Callaway quite a bit. We were able to get some amazing shots there. Thanks for sharing. We are really enjoying the journal of your German adventures!

  3. We can't wait to go back. It's only 3 Euros if you go after 5 pm, so I'm sure we'll return several times over the next month. Jeff has always had a very sensitive nose, and he really enjoyed the potpourri of fragrances the way a food enthusiast or wine connoisseur would take to fine food and drink!

  5. OH! the awesome and wonderful architecture and scenery that you have been blessed to enjoy. What a great trip.
I wasn't able to get to your site while you were gone because of the very difficult move we had, but better late than never. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in letting us enjoy your trip with you. As Richard said this is a place that we probably will not be able to enjoy in peace as you have. Good to have you back.
